Ornamental / decorative arms.
Replica of a flintlock gun in metal and wood with a mechanism to simulate loading and firing.
THE GUN DOES NOT FIRE
Flintlock pistols had a flint stone which, when activated, produced a spark that ignited the gunpowder. These guns had to be reloaded manually after each shot.
Because the opponents used the same weapon in a duel, these guns ensured an equal fight.
Duels were carried out to restore honour. The goal was generally not to kill the opponent, but to achieve "satisfaction", for example to restore honour by risking life. In many countries, where duels were not recognised as a legal means of saving honour, the duelists resorted to distant places and almost always at sunrise.
